A gem in the middle of nowhere! Excellent British cuisine served in pub-style ambience. English sport channels show on several wall-mounted televisions. Very busy at peak times (expect to wait) and can be rather noisy! Eating outside on the porch next to the slow flowing stream, however, adds a completely different dimension...peaceful and rustic elegance while enjoying the same excellent meals.

Beautiful location, very rustic. Arrived at 8:30ish, Our party of 3 were seated almost immediately. Dani was our waitress, she was fantastic, very easy to get along with. We all started with a soup, Kennett Square mushroom and the English Onion soup. The mushroom is broth based, not cream which was different and enjoyable but the English Onion was more flavorful and similar to a French Onion soup seen on other menus. We all decided to get one of the specials, which were all delicious (Beef Wellington, Red Snapper and Pork Chop with BBQ rub). The dessert was out of this world and can't be missed. The sticky toffee pudding is EXCELLENT and is worth visiting solely for the pudding.

We made a quick stop prior to a Christening and ordered the Brussels sprout appetizer. It was ample and very tasty. It wasn't well marked; we went by the number of cars outside and were in luck. It's a dark pub with an attentive waitstaff. We would consider making a special trip to spend more time there and in the beautiful countryside. NOTE: We were asked if we had reservations (we didn't), and they managed to find us a table. Going by the number of people we saw waiting as we left, it might be a good idea.

As an Englishman I'm somewhat biased towards English food restaurants, but this place is wonderful. Great service, friendly staff, great atmosphere very reminiscent of an English country pub. The food was delicious, I had the fish and chips. Good portion size. I like the fact that it was haddock and not presented as cod. Bangers and mash was delicious also. Best sausages I've ever had in a restaurant! The sticky toffee pudding was a fantastic after. Will definitely be back. Cheers!

We ate at The Whip on Friday evening. One of the specials was seared scallops over tomato flavored couscous, roasted asparagus, and a tarragon beurre blanc sauce. It was the best meal I’ve had in a restaurant in 2023. Highly recommend!!

Friendly, attentive staff. Outdoor seating is beautiful and relaxing.... Can see and hear the adjacent stream just over the wall. Food was well-prepared and plated. The hummos plate (pictured) was fresh and on point. Scotch and deviled eggs were great as was the cheese dip. Definitely worth the scenic drive!

First ate here 2 years ago while visiting from Oregon & really enjoyed my experience. Went back tonight and the Whip exceeded my memories and expectations. I thought my meal two years ago was good, but tonight was exceptional. Our order: • Welsh rarebit • Scotch Egg • Sheppard’s pie • Banger’s & mash • Sticky toffee pudding Not one weak moment all evening. Every dish was perfect, and the service was lovely. Thank you, for making my trip extra special! (Apologies for the sloppy photos, we were hungry and excited!) Pictured: Welsh rarebit, bangers & mash, + bathroom wallpaper that we loved.

Great local English style pub that features local produce, cheese, game and beers. They have a beautiful back patio overlooking the creek that has umbrellas to shade from the sun if wanted. The interior has several TVs with sports and races and they often have quiz nights and other features. Highly recommend it!

A friend wanted to try this tavern so a few of us met for dinner. The atmosphere reminded me of an English tavern in the countryside which was really appropriate considering the location. This tavern is in the middle of farm country. It is a small restaurant but worth the drive. Reservations are required so do plan ahead. The parking is limited. I would recommend going early or on an off day as it gets crowded at prime times. We were luck to arrive before there was a big crowd. The food was excellent with many English type dishes to samples. Since we were in an English tavern we wanted to try some authentic style dishes. The Scotch Eggs were delicious. The Welsh Rarebit was to die for. All that gooey cheese with crostini was a perfect accompaniment to our ales. Dinner consisted of Shepard's pie, fish and chips, and the crab cake special. The crab cakes were meaty with minimal filler. The fish and chips had big pieces of fish with a light breading and steak fries. Not sure if the fries were homemade but they were good. The Shepard's Pie was really filling with a generous portion of meat and potatoes. Honestly, two people could easily have eaten the Shepard's pie and been full. We did indulge in dessert. Three dishes were ordered to share between our group. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was disappointing in my option. The cheesecake was good. Lastly we ordered an orange bunt cake dish which i think was a special. All were enjoyable and the perfect end to our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and would gladly make the drive to sample more of the menu.
